The museum is situated in the area of the School for Agriculture and Forestry
in Kobenz. Its foundation was initiated by Anton Guggemos
and DI Alfred Pretzler, the former headmaster of the school.
The planning started in 1994. The building was finished 1999, just in time for the exhibition
"Traffic" in Knittelfeld.
Master of the house is the actual headmaster of the school DI Peter Prietl. At the moment 20 tractors, 27 stationary engines, a steam-locomobile, a whim, a horse-driven mower, a threshing-machine, a chaff-cutter and a hay-turning-machine are exhibited on two floors which create a viewing space of 600m2. The exhibition is completed by numerous pictures and show-cases, presenting the spectator the development of the agricultural technology during the last 100 years.
The bigger part of the exhibits has been provided by Anton Guggemos who has been collecting and restaurating old tractors and machines with great passion for more than 20 years. Due to his engagement all the objects are not only nice to look at but fully working. From time to time the tractors and machines can be seen at historical gatherings and several events of the school in Kobenz.
A lot of active support is given by the technical collaborator Egon Winkler,
a retired foreman of the "Austria Emailwerke". Since the beginning of his retirement he has been
a passionate collector of old tractors like Anton Guggemos.
